Olympics Kitchen
The
Challenge
In 1996, 15,000 athletes descended into Atlanta, Georgia for the Olympic
Games. During their almost three week stay; these athletes needed all of
the comforts of home, including three meals a day. The preparation of up
to 60,000 meals per day presented a tremendous challenge. Our
Solution
Signature Special Event Services stepped in and in just three weeks,
their organized and skilled team assembled a 17,000 square foot modular
kitchen on-site at the Olympic Village. Twenty-six tractor-trailer units
were combined to create a high volume food service production facility,
including hot and cold prep areas, walk-in refrigeration, compartment
storage, box lunch prep area, dishwashing station, and office space.
Results
The modular kitchen that Signature Special Event services designed and
assembled enabled the Olympic staff to prepare and serve over 1.2
million meals to athletes from all over the world.
